Abigail used to be a bundle of joy: not the heart of the party, but the most entertaining person around.
Her love for stories and books, and a sense of being meant for something more left her a likeable dreamer. Awakening was opening her eyes to realize, indeed, she was meant for something more. Up till now, she had lived in a grey lie - a beautiful, colorful world awaited her now!
Her Awakening took her by surprise, but thanks to her charm she quickly found a Cabal - and more.
Not too long, and they got the task of retrieving an Artifact, and sure enough, crossed paths with a group of Seers.
A company of true friends, a wonderful boyfriend, fascinating work, evil guys and an important task: the stuff of legends.
It had been supposed to go down like in the stories: fight off the bad guys, seal the evil MacGuffin, save the day, get approved by the grumpy old men and become a heroine.
Instead: Tragedy. Helplessness. Abandonment and outright Betrayal by those she trusted most.
Caught in a tight spot, she made a decision, willing to martyr herself to end the threat once and for all.
Then: unexpected help when she needed it most. A sacrifice and deep regret.
Days later, she was rescued, if that term can even be used. As the only survivor, just a shell of her old self, Sparkle had been deeply scared by what had transpired. People pitied her. Some helped her out with food and talks and comfort, others just talked about her and what happened, whispering behind closed doors about her, making up stories about what might have taken place. After all, she couldn't rightly tell them what happened: her memory was fuzzy.
Due to the explosion and immense emotional stress she was not prepared for, the Arrow doctor had said. PTSD.
After some time, everything was forgotten, her plight, the deaths, the costs. Just old news.
Abigail herself did not forget. She boiled in her rage, and set out to learn more, to never be helpless again.
She set out to learn more about what took place, and what allowed her to survive. With this, she might be able to take revenge.
Cedar City is comehow connected to all this, and apparently Fate was well-disposed towards her: paths opened while other doors closed, and now, she stood amidst the mighty trees that gave the city its name.
