The opportunity to secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. -Sun Tzu
This world is a Liar. Every Ache and Pain, every little injustice, and every unpaid bill is a Lie.
This world has wrong you. Every broken heart you suffer, Every time you took the fall, and every sad face on T.v. is not your fate.
This world wants to keep you down. Every time you fail, every time you suffer, every little indignity of everyday life, is not how it should be.
You should be strong, confident, powerful. You should bend the world to your will, capture a star in your hands. You should not fear death, nor the march of time. You should be master of your own Fate, and fear no trespass upon your soul. You should run with wolves and speak with creatures unseen. Your voice should sway Millions and your vision be realized.
You should know the Truth.
The truth is that we are losing. That the powers that force you into the Lie strengthen every day. That much was lost when Calamity rent the sky. We are against the wall, being pushed back. The Lie is winning, and it's our own damned fault. We pushed the button, we called their bluff, and we are paying for it with our blood.
But there is hope.

We just have to reach out and grasp it tight.

We fucked up.
Ten years the Seers moved, and we were losing. The last bastion in the southwest was on the brink of disaster, and we were desperate, so we took a gamble.
And we failed.
Now the world is divided, the top and the bottom, the seers above, the Concillium below, our lives held in the hands of a Faustian Contract.
Into this many new mages have come:
Salem, Lilah and Mirvalad a cabal seeking to help, and to keep their own council.
Lucifer: Former seer seeking to avenge all that was taken from him in his fall
Leona: An Arrow come to help.
Jack: The First free councilor to transfer in almost half a decade.
All of these, save Jack, were given their first tasks by Pandora. Salem, Liliah and Mirvalad were to seek out a group of teens who lost one of their own in a local haunted house and now are reporting the young girl is haunting them. Coupled with a massive supernatural accident and a mother who will not shut up about her daughter being taken by "shadow people" They are to investigate and solve any issues causing the obviously supernatural elements, convince the mother to go quiet and if possible save the Sleepers.
Lucifer and Sparkle were given a task involving spirits and death energies surround the town hall.
Jack woke up in the ghost house after trying to enter it to save the young girl taken by it. He was tasked by the house itself to lead Salem and Mirvalad to it.
Plot: A house Divided.
So far Jack has met up with Salem and Mrivalad, they have researched and found out the following about the house :
The house used to be the home of One Emil Bergmann. Built in 1857 it was the key stone of what was then called "Bergville". A company Town that housed mostly German Mining families that started the iron-working in the area. Bergman was, unsurprisingly, its president. He lived with his wife, a young Molly Ingram who was a Boston Debutante, and heiress to a large Textile fortune. The family lived there through 3 successive Generations with the Last Bergmann leaving the estate in the early 1900's. Shortly there the Mining company and all assets there in were sold to cover debts incurred by the current President.
The house was at the time consider Palatal and was used in advertising for the area to draw in new workers with promises of wealth and land. In one of the books you find a sketching of the house that makes it appear at least four times its actual size. The advertisement is also shown depicting beautiful paved streets, fine dining cafes and all the luxurious amenities one would find in any grand European city. The book notes dryly that most of the promised amenities were lacking at the time of arrival. It breifly mentions a court case brought against the company for fraudulent advertising which was ultimately won by the company.
The house went through multiple successive owners after the foreclosure in quick succession. No one family or Group of families managed to stay longer than 2 years for a decade until one Henry Ravenswood bought the house in the 1912. He had a plan to revitalize the town and bring in new miners, but a combination of bad luck caused him to ultimately fail. The house was passed to his daughter who lived there alone until her death in the 1950's. Since then the home has stood vacant, and has earned itself the name of the "phantom manor".

They have driven to the home to see what they can see.
